Beach Cleanup Program

One of the many targets of Krish Sports Foundation is to teach and spread awareness about the world and our surroundings to people who are unaware of it all. It develops various methods to explain this along with sports. It works to evolve people wholly and help them gain a good sense of the things that are happening around them.

As we all know that marine plastic pollution is a massive problem that affects our entire planet by suffocating marine life, we wanted to do something about it. The plastic that is dumped in the water gets eaten by water creatures and enters the food chain.

To bring change in the situation, one of the many ways we started with was beach cleanup program. We found an organization-‘ivolunteer’ on a social media platform and thought of approaching them. Soon, the process began and it was decided that we’ll work together for a better and cleaner environment.

On January 11, the team of the foundation along with 10 tribal athletes and 2 caretakers went to Dadar beach which is adjacent to Shivaji Park in Mumbai. It all started at 5:30 a.m. in the morning when all of us reached there. It was the first time that these athletes had seen a beach in their lives. They were so happy and excited to see the water gushing and the wind swaying in the air. After some time of enjoyment, the team of ivolunteer came to meet us all and briefed us the details about the work.

We started with cleaning the beach and collected the trash for one good hour and then when all of us were tired, we sat and had an interaction by discussing about Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan, Pollution and good deeds. Everyone was geared up with energy and therefore, we did our morning training session at the beach itself. It was a new experience as we had always practiced on the hard grass ground and there we were, on the bank of the sea practicing in the sand. The training was hard, tough, challenging and a lot more exciting. It was so fulfilling to see these youngsters enjoying the training even after all the hard work that they did. After we were done with the training, all of us went to a nearby restaurant to have our breakfast. Everybody was so much exhausted after such a wonderful and new experience.

This program was for a bigger, better, brighter and a cleaner India. It was an educative as well as very unique session that helped these athletes not only physically but mentally too. Even a little effort like this helps build up their confidence, makes them aware and moreover, makes them want to do more and more for the planet which is precisely the main aim of our foundation.
