Tribals in Wankhede Stadium

Be it the 50-over format or the latest Twenty 20(T20),or the longest format, cricket never ceases to grab the attention of Indians. There are thousands of cricket fans who are unable to make it to the insides of the stadium for the live match consider themselves unlucky. But our athletes were lucky as they got the chance to see the live match between India and Australia at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

On 14thJanuary’19, all the athletes with Krish Sports Foundation went out and were very eager to go there as they had never seen any live match in their lives. There was a lot of excitement in the hostel premises. Next day we reached there at 12:30pm, collected our tickets and then all the athletes painted their face in tri-color and wore Indian team jersey to show their support.

There faces were filled with joy and were worth seeing. Even though India was not performing well at the pitch but these little children were cheering at every single run and praying for every single ball. It was wonderful to see how our young athletes were supporting their team India.

Unfortunately, India lost the game by a huge margin but it was still amazing to see that inspite of their sadness, they were still cheering for team India for upcoming tournaments.

They felt elated to see the match. Inspite of the sport being different, they could still feel the vibes of sitting so close to the pitch in the stadium and watching the game taking place. It really felt special being covered in Indian color.

They realised that it took considerable amount of hard work to cross those few rows of spectators and reach the ground where the team represents the Indian colors.

After the match, they went to Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) office. They felt privileged to be there. Over there, they saw the trophy of India World Cup’11 and many more. It filled theur hearts with more pride and inspiration to work hard and earn this glory for their country.

It was really a unique experience for them. Soon after, they had their dinner at the ‘Bademiyan’ near gateway and returned to hostel premises in Santacruz.

This was a big opportunity for our tribal athletes to spectate such a rich and teeth clenching tournament between India and Australia. All the athletes were filled with happiness and confidence to rise above all and the pave the path for their bright future.
