To succeed, one needs preparation more than luck. This sportsperson Shakila vasave and her undying passion is an example of how one can achieve greater heights inspite of limited resources.
She is an eleven years old brave and audacious girl and was born in village Dhadgaon which is 120 km away from Shirpur. She belongs to a poor tribal community living in hills. Her father is a farmer and mother- a housewife. She is the youngest sister and has four elder brothers.
As she was born into a lower middle class family, she had to struggle very hard. There is no electricity in her village and no network coverage.
She had to climb 1-2 km uphill if she wanted to use internet and contact anyone. She used to train on the hills with her elder brother who is also an athlete and has run various Marathon (half and full) at the age of 20.
She studied in Ashram School Shirpur which is 120 km away from her village. Subhash Pawara, an athletic coach in the area got her admitted in Ashram School and started training her. He arranged everything for her at his own house along with 3-4 other athletes. She started getting trained there under him.
After seeing her talent and skills, she was selected by Krish Sports Foundation under the program of Sports Super 30 whose main aim is to find such tribal talents, nurture, groom and provide them different opportunities to succeed in life and help in their overall development. Shakila was selected in Sports Super 30 and was trained in Mumbai.
She was brought to Mumbai with nine other athletes for a training program of fifteen days. She was also taken for India vs Australia T20 match, cancer awareness and Adidas Run.
She has been to more than ten competitions of 5 kms and 10 kms at different levels. She bagged first prize in every competition. She also won First prize in Bajaj Pune Marathon, a 10 kms event within the timing of 39:30 minutes.
In this way, Krish Sports Foundation played a major role in changing her lifestyle and making her future better.
